This is a week of lunches (not sure what happened to the fifth picture). They all look similar because I prep and then use what I have, kids don't seem to mind having the same thing most days - especially if it is something they like.

Prep involved:

Pizza Pinwheels: I made these on Sunday night when the kids were making their own mini pizzas for dinner. Recipe

Chicken Nibbles: On Wednesday when I was cooking dinner I put two packets of Brinks Free-range Chicken Nibbles in the oven with 1Tbs honey and 1Tbs tamari soy sauce and cooked them for about 20mins (until nice and golden).

Baking: I made some Nutty Fudge Slice with my little helper one morning.

Yoghurt: I make this regularly - when we are running out.

Stewed feijoas: we have a LOT of feijoas at the moment so I do this to make them keep a bit longer and they are REALLY nice on natural yoghurt, porridge or with some fresh cream as a pudding option. You could also freeze them and then blend with some natural yoghurt, cream or coconut cream (or just by themselves) to make a soft-serve dessert.

At the markets on Saturday I made sure I brought:

  • Bier sticks
  • Cucumber
  • Cherry Tomatoes (we have some in the garden as well but supply is unreliable)
  • Baby carrots

Supermarket:

  • Cheese
  • Peanut butter

Fruit:

  • Passionfruit, Feijoas, from our trees
  • Apples, from the neighbours

So my shopping list would have looked a bit like this (if I had to buy everything from scratch - a lot of this I have in the pantry from week to week):

  • Spelt flour
  • Olive oil
  • Baking powder
  • Eggs
  • Bacon (try to get additive-free, Henderson's is a good brand)
  • Pineapple (I get tinned stuff in juice)
  • Cheese (I buy Mainland Colby - like the flavour best)
  • Onion
  • Tomato paste (Greggs does a good one, not organic but no nasties)

Chicken Nibbles:

  • Tamari
  • Honey
  • Chicken nibbles (Free-range if possible)

Other:

  • Peanut butter
  • Bier sticks (Preservative free - Canterbury biltong is a good brand)
  • Cucumber
  • Baby carrots
  • Natural Yoghurt (Yoplait Original or Cyclops organic are the brands I prefer)
  • Apples
  • Feijoas
  • Passionfruit

Fudge Slice:

  • Mixed nuts
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Dates
  • Cocoa
  • Butter (I buy Mainland on special and freeze it)
  • Coconut cream (Ceres organics or Macro which is the much cheaper option)
  • Desiccated coconut (try to get it preservative free)
